“Reading Beyond Tipping Point is like diving into an investigative journalist’s Walkley award winning exposé on geo-political intrigue and corruption, about real life events occurring right now! Fast paced action, engaging characters and a tightly structured plot propel the reader to devour the what if ? scenario Andrew Dyhin presents and eagerly await a sequel.

This up to the minute eco-thriller charts an action packed course of twists and turns for central character and media mogul Timothy Wiley and his team, where business acumen and romance align in a brief window between uncertainty and opportunity.  Wiley must act decisively to keep his ship and his company afloat as shadowy global political interests attempt to silence his efforts to explore unexplained catastrophic events occurring in the Southern Ocean.

The power of social media is more than fictional, and Dyhin creates a scenario where people power is pivotal to effect positive change on a global scale. But uneasiness behind the harnessing of this power is palpable–are we being manipulated by social media?  Where does the real power to control the flow of information lie? Is a puppeteer pulling our strings?

Sabotage,  murder sanctioned at state level, data deception and energy hijacking are not usually associated with discussion of  global warming and climate change but Dyhin presents a fascinating alternative 2015 where a what if? parallel reality is both thought-provoking and entertaining. Guaranteed to make you think twice about the future of renewable energy and the inevitable power-plays of global interests.”

“I have always wondered what it would be like to be a part of an Antarctic expedition and to be left alone for months of the year. This is where it all begins when ten members of a research team are left behind during the winter months to continue the research of the ozone layer and to manually compare the findings of the Satellite situated high up into space. The team is unaware of a secretive intelligence unit of the military in China who are monitoring developments around the world into the energy sector and are prepared to stop the research team and their findings by any means.

Meanwhile, there is a Yacht Race happening around the world in which Penelope is taking part. She is being covered by her partner Timothy and his media empire. Millions throughout the world are watching the two of them and are envious of their relationship. The Royal Yacht Club in Cape Town is amazed at Penelope’s ability to be three days ahead of the rest of the race team. Caroline who is head of the media watch is afraid that the public will lose interest, as it seems impossible for the rest of the racing yachts to catch up, and it will be left to Penelope alone to show the rest.

It is on her way to Perth that Penelope strikes tragedy and goes missing in rough seas. Timothy mounts an air sea rescue to find her but instead he finds her boat, the Sea Odyssey’s, shattered remains. In sixty kilometer winds and five metre waves it is fairly certain that the debris has to belong to the Sea Odyssey. Timothy, aboard the Australian search plane the Orion, can’t believe his eyes and is trying to understand the reason for the destruction. Timothy is pouring over the debris to see if any of the survival gear is missing, which would indicate Penelope is clinging to try and survive. But what about the other boats in the race? Were there any survivors in the five other missing vessels?

It appears that the devastation to the world race was caused by an unusual thermal event occurring in the area, but why was it not reported?  Could this have anything to do with the research conducted in the Antarctica regarding the difference in the manual readings and the satellite readings?  Why is China taking so much interest? All of this is not of concern to Timothy and the rest of the race organizers who are more interested in finding Penelope and the other survivors – if any. It is during this search that media magnate, Timothy Wyley, stumbles across certain operations happening in the Southern Ocean that the government doesn’t want him to report.

This is a great read about the excitement of world yacht racing and the crews involved, together with certain governments wanting to change environmental climate control. I found it to be a great read and one you won’t find easy to put down.

“Absolute excitement and adventure involving the greater adventure of round the world yacht racing, coupled with governments who will stop at nothing to change the climate. However be warned that you may not want to stop reading until you finish the exciting end.””
