The security to get into the compound consisted of two sets of gates, separated by twenty meters of bare concrete that acted as a moat around the property. Each gate had a manned guardhouse. The walls were three metres tall, capped with razor wire, numerous cameras and sensor clusters at short intervals. The moat was guarded by automated rapid-fire 10 mm cannons. It was 400 metres to the small castle nestled inside the grounds. The grounds were a wonder of electronic surveillance. Anti-aircraft defences were present, but not visible at ground level.
A lifestyle that this planet can only sustain for around 2.5 billion people.
How many people can Earth actually support?
“An American consumes 3.3 times the subsistence level of food and almost 250 times the subsistence level of clean water. So if everyone on Earth lived like a middle class American, then the planet might have a carrying capacity of around 2 billion. However, if people only consumed what they actually needed, then the Earth could potentially support a much higher figure.”
